We've streamlined our employment process to make it easier for you to become a school bus driver. Just follow these five steps and you're on your way to a great job that is both financially and personally rewarding.

Step 1: Attend an information session. Sessions are scheduled several times a week at different times of the day and locations throughout the County. Sign up for an Information Session now. Or, you can apply directly to FCPS at www.fcps.edu/DHR/applicants/default.html.

Step 2: Submit your resume or work history. You can do this at your information session, or online at www.fcps.edu/DHR/applicants/default.html.

Step 3: Take a physical exam and drug screening, paid for by the County. FCPS will provide you with a list of approved sites.

Step 4: After passing your physical exam and screening, sign up for training and participate in our Ride Before You Train program, which allows you to earn and learn before formal training begins.

Step 5: Go to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and take the written commercial driver's license (CDL) permit test. You must pass the test and obtain a CDL “B” class permit with an “S” endorsement by the third day of class.
